2nd Grade Stud!

Karden started second grade on Monday.
He was so excited to go back to school-( I think I was more excited :) He wanted to make sure I was going to walk him into his class and as soon as we got out of the car he grabbed my hand. I was excited to think that he still loves his mom. We got about 3 feet in front of the entrance and he quickly let go of my hand and walked about one step in front of my the entire way to his classroom. Aren't second graders supposed to still like there moms- I guess you have to look cool when you are in second grade, oh the horrors if any of the other kids seen you hold your moms hand!! Little Stinker!

He had a great day and we are looking forward to a great year!!

I have proof....

....That this has really happened!!!!

We actually put a slip and slide on my dads lawn, and yes he knew, and yes he was ok with it!!
The only reason he was fine with it is because it was for the precious grandkids!! I am still in shock!!

Now given, I was not deprived when I was little, but there were a few things I knew without even asking that the answer was NO!! #1. A trampoline, because my mom had woke up way too many kids that had come out of surgery with broken arms, legs, necks etc! and #2 was a slip n Slide, it kills the grass, makes a hole, etc!! This was an argument you would never win at my house! It was NEVER gonna Happen!

But when we went down to celebrate my dads birthday, the slip and slide was put on the lawn and the kids had a blast!!

a divet producing good time..

and all that slipping and sliding work up an appetite, especially for raw corn on the cob,
and hose water.

When the kids were all swimmed out, you can bet the slip and slide was promptly picked up and left to dry on the clothes line!!

It is amazing what changes when your Dad becomes the Grandpa! I'm just waiting for the trampoline! :)

Fun on the Fourth!!

It seemed like this year everyone got into doing fireworks on the fourth of July! We had what I like to call the "culdasac or fire" as 3 out of the 4 families were setting them off. (yes we missed you Nicki!)

The kids had a ball watching the fountains and doing sparklers and of course eating way to many Popsicles.
But The highlight of the night for Karden was cleanup duty? Why you ask? Because he thought the burnt up fireworks were treasures and insisted that he keep them.
I think I may have a hoarder on my hands!! He completely filled up his power wheels jeep with them and wouldn't let anyone touch them.

The next day I found this...

I may have more to worry about than just hoarding! :) Boys!!

Just Practicing..

...With the new baby coming in only 10 short weeks. We decided we needed to gear up the kids for helping with there new sibling! So we did what every normal person does..

we had them bottle feed baby calves.

Whitley thought it was the neatest thing ever, She thought it was so funny that cows drink from baby bottles.

Karden Liked feeding them but wanted to know if our baby was going to have poop and flies on him too!( yes he is a typical 7 year old boy I am told)

Dad even got in on the action- He needs practice too! :)

Now we have the feeding part done.... On to diapering!

It's A.................................

..............................

We had our ultrasound today and everything looked great!! The baby is healthy so we couldn't be happier. and definatly my kid as the hands were constantly covering her/his face so people wouldn't look at her/him. :)

We decided we wanted this baby- our last- to be a surprise!! I held my ground, Ryan waivered a little, but I got my way and we have no clue what kind of baby we will be getting in August!

We told the doctor we didn't want to know and he said he wouldn't tell us. The first half of the ultrasound he referred to the baby as "him". I was thinking this was totally subconscious and was convinced it was a boy. The second half she started withe the "she's" So now I'm all sorts of confused.

We will see come August!! Any Guesses?

Floored!

We finally got floored! I am so excited. The 90's vinyl floor is gone.
There were no tears shed!!

We created a walkway from the front door to the kitchen and got rid of the dirtiest carpet ever!!
I am so happy with the end result!

Gimme A Break!!

We were all excited for Spring Break this year!! A whole week off from school... Okay so maybe I was dreading it just a little bit!

We decided(Ok I decided) that we were going to go somewere. Our first choice was Yellowstone
but it would still be too cold this time of year we headed off to the next best place...

Salt Lake City.
Yup you heard me right. And Yes you can be jealous. We went on "vacation" 40 minutes away from our house. We did the tourist thing and ended up having a great time.

The first day we toured the Mrs Field cookie Plant
and the Sweets Candy Factory.
After our sugar high leveled off we headed to Kennecott! It was a really big hole. :)
The kids loved to watch the huge dumptrucks and diggers working.
We had to have the stadard picture by the BIG tire.
Then back to the hotel for SWIMMING! Safety First :)

Friday we started the day off at The Living Planet Aquarium,
followed by a ride on Trax for our train obsessed nephew.
Wowza there are some "Special, Scary, Strange" people who ride trax.

We got off at the Clarke Planatarium were we checked out the sights and visited a few different planets
before watching a 3D movie. This is were I found out that popcorn and my nephew Bryce don't mix! Okay so Amber found out!! :) After another eventful ride on trax back to the cars.
We headed back to the hotel for more swimming.

Saturday we headed to Logan and took in the cheese factory, pepperidge farms, did a little (or a lot) or shopping and of course more swimming!
The dads were starting to get "swimmed out". I didn't know that was possible!

We headed home on sunday, It turned out to be a good break!!
