Playing Chicken!

Whitley is afraid of alligators-
She hates them. She is random and will just out of the blue says things all the time like "I don't want the alligator to bite me" and " Mom alligators don't eat little girls!" etc. So to calm her fears We tell her that there are no alligators in Utah and that they only eat chickens.

So the other night driving home Whitley starts talking about how she doesn't want the alligator to bite her and keeps asking me what alligators eat! I tell her they only eat chickens. She seems fine and a minute later starts pestering Karden-Who is trying to play Mario on the gameboy next to her in the car. She keeps bugging him and he dies in the game. Then I hear Karden from the backseat say in a exasperated Voice "Mom- Can we dress Whitley like a chicken?!?"

This was one of those parenting moments were you try really hard not to laugh, but can't contain it. I was laughing so hard I had tears streaming down my face. 5 year old boys crack me up!

A Perfect Weekend!

Good: Free Weekend getaway in Mesquite and St George for a convention with Ryans Work!

Better: Having a actual conversation with Ryan without hearing this the entire time we are trying to talk- "Mom, Mom, Mommy, Daddy, daddy, Mommy, Mom, Dad, Dad,Daddy, Daddy"

Good: Winning something at every drawing they had. (okay so I won a wooden box or nuts and a hunting knife set) I least I won!

Better; Ry Winning a gift card to Walmart ( Yeah there was some trading going on)

Good: Gambling $20.00 on the Goldfish Slot Machine and playing for 5 hours!!! It was the best machine ever!

Better: Actually walking away ( okay so being pulled away) 18.00 richer!

Good: Watching my hubby kick the butts of the others at the Oasis Gun Club shooting skeet.

Better: Getting AWESOME deals at the Outlet Stores in St George!

Good: Spending the remainder of the time in St George by going to dinner and a movie!

Better: Spending 2 whole days just being "Ryan and Megan" instead of mom and dad!

Good: Sleeping in until 9:30 am and having perfect weather to drive home in.

Better: Coming home to these two!! ( I actually missed the endless "Mom, mom, Mommy")

Perfect weekend!

Thanks to my awesome sister who watched my kids, and spoiled the crap out of them! Chuck E Cheese, lots of candy and NO bedtime!! I can't wait to watch her kids in April!!

The Toothless Wonder!!

Karden lost another tooth- That makes 2 down and a mouthful to go... He was so excited and got a gold coin from the tooth fairy, He was even more excited that he got his name on the tooth board again at school.

He is getting too big!! Anyone know any secrets for making them stay little longer?

"Wii" wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

We had a fun and busy Christmas Season, It seemed like I had all these great ideas in the beginning of December and ending up not getting to most of them, I guess there is always next year.

On Christmas Eve we finally got to build the Gingerbread house,
The kids had a fun time decorating( Karden) and eating the candy (Whitley). It actually resembled a gingerbread house when we were finished. You gotta love the prepackaged kits~

Christmas Eve came and after feeding the reindeer, putting the Santa key on the door and leaving cookies and a Pepsi for Santa. The kids went to bed and after a few times of getting out of bed just to see if Santa came yet, finally fell asleep! Once again I had to MAKE Ryan wait until 6:30 to wake the kids up. But when everyone was up we realized that Santa found our house. WOW did he ever!!

Whitley got her Dollhouse, and babies and lots of other stuff.
Karden got a racetrack and starwars guys and Santa left the family a WII!!
Karden has been in heaven! I think Ryan may think he is in HELL, because he hasn't played anything but Lego Starwars! But I have come to love the Wii for a simple thing that karden had to earn time to play the Wii, Karden has played it everyday but after making his bed, getting dressed and eating all his breakfast, without whining! He also has to be nice to Whitley and If he whines the wii is grounded!! LOVE IT!! It has made Christmas Vacation much more enjoyable especially since all his little friends have been sick~

After our house it was off to Grandma Mollys. Were the kids were spoiled yet again! />

There is not a Devenish Christmas without something weird! This year Jon made Paul Bacon Flavored Vodka!! Yes he drank it and liked it and no he isn't dead...Yet!

On sunday it was Christmas at my moms house! It was fun spending time with the family and getting More presents!! And yet what did the kids all play in... The Boxes!!
I give up!!

The kids loved riding in the sled with Grandpa Norman.
If we get any more kids we will need to think of what to do for next year, there is no room in the sled!

Whitley of course thought she was the little mommy to baby Bryce-

This is also one of my favorite pictures, If you would of asked me in June if I would see my grandma with all the kids again and doing so good I would of called you a liar! She even walked down the stairs at my moms house! We are VERY Blessed!

New years eve came and it was off to party like it was 2009..well as much as you can party with 5 kids under 5. We spent the night with good fun, fun games and great people! We had a little jam fest with Rock Band,
and played a little Wii Price is right.About 10:30 pm we all started to drag a little bit, we decided we are too old to stay up until midnight! We of course did what everyone else does we grabbed a cold one... of pepsi, and the boys started to play the new Wii Mario Brothers. We realized we had missed the new year when someone realized it at 12:10 pm. The only new years kiss I got was from this cutie patootie my nephew Josh
The boys kept playing and the girls just kept laughing at more and more random stuff. (Can you imagine if we were drinking!)
and before we realized the clock said this...
We had a great night and I will never think of Garth Brooks and Tricia Yearwood the same way again. Thanks to these two!

We had a great Christmas season, it has been fun but I am ready for routine again. Thanks to all our great family and friends, we love you all. Bring on 2010!!

Epic Failure!

Last night we went and took a drive around the Festival of Lights,
The kids of course loved it and as we were driving around all the different displays we came upon The Nativity! The conversation sounded like this:

Me: Look at that! Who is that in the Manger?
Whitley: Baby Jesus, and his momma Mary and his Daddy Joseph.
Me: Good Job Whitley!! ~ I also have a smug smile thinking, my kids have actually learned something that Grandma Linda or I have taught them- Okay so probably Grandma Linda!

Me: Look its the three Wiseman, What did they bring Baby Jesus?
Karden:( after contemplating for a minute) They brought him Coal!

I have learned from my dad that if you do get coal for Christmas at least you would have a warm butt! But Seriously I have failed my child!! I guess we will be in primary on Sunday, obviously I'm not doing something right! :)

2 of My Favorite Things...

The Zoo and Christmas lights, What could be better?

Saturday we ventured up to Zoo for our annual trek to ZOO LIGHTS!!
Our fun Neighbors Lowell and Jaycie and there kiddos joined us and we had a great night! It seemed like this year they had more lights but less animals out for observation. When We were in the reptile house, the alligators were awake and actually got up and moved a little bit, I thought Whitley was going to come uncorked! She not only has an irrational fear of Santa but Alligators as well.
She kept saying "alligators only eat chickens, not little girls" I think she was trying to convince herself, it was very sad.

No trip to the zoo is complete without a ride on the Merry-go-round. Whitley chose the baby elephant-
because she was sad we didn't get to see the real one- and Karden chose the snake
( Shocker- He has never rode ANYTHING but the praying mantis). Oh yeah we also snuck baby Tyson on to the carousel, because Ryan was mad they punched our punch card three times? Tyson wasn't that impressed, but ryan felt vindicated!

Another must for the zoo is the train ride, well with it being Winter this is an close as we got to the Zoofari Express:

We had a great time and look forward to doing it again next year!

Dear Santa- Define Good!

Every year we go to Mountain View Hospital to see Santa, (My mom works there and they bring in santa for employees families)

Whitley has decided she doesn't like Santa, but in order to get presents she does like Santa's brother. Weird, weird, child!! So all day in preparation for the big event I am prepping Whitley, telling her that Santa is Grandma Lindas friend and that he is nice and how can Santa tell his brother what you want for Christmas if you don't sit on Santa's Lap. Plus I have a "themed" outfit and I really want her to wear it! She is wanting no part of it. So I know we will be leaving with a happy boy and a girl in tears!!

When we get to the hospital and the line is long, like always!! But this year they have paper taped to the wall and hand each little kid a box of crayons and turn them loose.
Now in all reality this is not a good idea when they have colored on the walls at home, but at the moment it made the wait lots more enjoyable!!

When it was finally our turn Whitley starts to panic a little and so we let Karden go first, Karden of course jumps right up and starts telling Santa ALL the things he wants, They were having quite the little conversation. Whitley must of sensed it was her turn because the "Hold me, Hold Me" started. When we pulled Karden away Santa I set her down and started to walk up with her, Then shock or all shocks she let go of my hand and jumped on his lap. I just about died.
She sat there and smiled and smiled (even if she still looks a bit nervous) and then told him she wanted a dollhouse! What!! A Dollhouse?- This is the first I have heard of this. After she was done she hopped down and wanted her gigantic cookie, yeah no candy canes here, they give huge Granny B cookies!!
I guess santa needs to tell his brother to go shopping for a dollhouse!!
