SEVENTH HEAVEN!

Whitley turned 7 way back in November. She has been talking about her birthday and has been telling everyone she is 6 1/2 since November 14th of last year.

A few day before her birthday she asked were her birthday outfit was... I didn't have one for her this year because its getting pretty darn hard to find custom outfits in her size. She was heartbroken when I told her she didn't have anything birthday themed to wear! ( I will take full responsibility on ruining that child :)
\So off to Joanns we went and ended up making one the night before her birthday. She loved it!

The day was saved. She insisted that I wake her up by saying " Happy Birthday 7 year old" she even made me practice what I was going to say the night before. She wanted her hair to look like a "7" It was the effort that counted, I guess.

She got to take cookies to her class and LOVED all the presents she got from her Whole Family!

It was like a mini Christmas. Lots of people love Whitley!

For her Birthday Dinner she wanted to "Go somewhere that they will sing to me!" she didn't care what kind of food she ate,  She just wanted them to sing to her.......I have no idea were I got this child!!  We ended up at Applebees ( I had free kids meal coupons) and she was happy as a little clam!

She is growing up so much now that she is in all day school. She is super smart and is a good friend. She is a darn Good Cleaner and is a good helper and big sister. We love her to pieces.... Loud voice and all!

Labor Day Adventures!

Labor day weekend, we woke up on Saturday morning and realized we had nothing to do.. We started discussing what we should do and somehow with a little help from Dena in the hotel department we ended up in Layton... very random!!  We had seen some advertisement for a Kite Festival on Antelope Island. Ryan or I had never been there so we decided to all explore it together.

That night we hit Sizzler for dinner.. Ryan and Karden were in heaven when we walked in and they had "All You can Eat Ribs!" Holy cow! It was borderline disgusting and embarrassing!!

Karden was a complete mess and the pile of carnage we had on our table was nasty!! But they were both so happy!!

Karden held his own!  Ryan only beat him by 4 ribs!

The next morning we got up bright and early and headed for a park in Kaysville for a Hot air balloon launch. We got there and waited and watched them let go tester balloon and got kind of worried if they were going to be able to launch them. Finally they Got them out of there trailers. It was really neat to see them go down the checklist of what needed to be done!

After they got them all inflated they decided that the the wind was a little too out of control.

so they tethered the balloons and walked around and asked if anyone wanted a ride!! I was so excited!

I made Whitley come stand in line with me because I didn't want to look weird, and karden decided to go as well! It was pretty darn neat.

We got to go up around 70 feet, we were above the trees and the power lines. The only part I didn't love was the fact that the basket is well.... a basket! Like the wicker basket kind. I assumed the floor would be metal or wood or something a tad bit more sturdy than wicker. but we survived and crossed riding in a hot air balloon off our bucket list!!  It was something neat to see!!

We then Headed out To Antelope island. You pay 10.00 to get onto the island because it is a state park, Ok I can handle that. we follow the signs and get to the kite festival only to be stopped again and ask for another 15.00. We can see down the hill there are bounce houses and lots of tents so we agree and pay the money. We park get out and are so excited when we walk in and realize... NOTHING is free!! The bounce houses are 25.00 for and all day jump pass per kid. ( 25 X 3=Yikes)  We tell the kids they are not doing the bounce houses! The little farm train is only a dollar, per kid, per ride so we cave and let them do that only to realize it just goes in a circle twice and then stops!

 They were not that impressed!

We find a " free kid tent" yeah finally!! we go in and they tell us we can sit down and color a picture.... So we do!

Most expensive piece of paper I have ever colored! We are just about to leave and over the loud speaker they say the chalk festival for kids is about to begin.. Karden wants to do it soo bad. So we cave and pay the 10.00 to let karden and Whitley throw colored chalk at each other!

They had fun... But were filthy and smelled weird the rest of the day! Good thing I had planned ahead and brought throw away shirts.

We decided we had enough and left the super expensive fun festival!  By the way we only seen 2 kites flying!! So Much for the super awesome Kite Festival!

We decide to drive around the rest of the island. We see lots of buffalo and antelope! It was neat, Those animal are HUGE!!

We find the parking lot to go and swim in the Great Salt lake and when we pull up we realize that the water is really low and we have to walk at least a mile to get to the water.

So we all change into our swimsuits, carry our beach bag, sand toys, and the 30 pound baby who is struggling to walk in to the sand and begin our trek. It is Hot, and muggy, and smells and about half way there  Ryan Stops and looks at the sky... I ask what is wrong. He then says I am looking for the buzzards to be circling my head waiting for me to die... This is like walking across the Mojave desert!! I was laughing so hard I almost peed my pants! We finally get to the water and before you enter the water there is a 3 foot section of black on the sand. I'm asking Ryan what it is when karden goes running to the water and the ground moves literally. They were million and million of gnats!! It was the most disgusting thing I have seen. It was like the ground was moving in waves when someone would walk through them... I then decided I was not going to swim because I was NOT walking through the bugs.. It was nasty!!!  So Ryan takes the kids and they are all going to swim, They get in the water to there calf.

and all hell breaks loose!! 3 kids + eczema sores= complete and udder pandemonium. There were all screaming bloody murder because all the salt in the water was burning there legs. We are trying to get them all to calm down so we can try to wipe the water off, get there shoes on them and try to tell them we can wash them off in the showers that are guess where?... across the Mojave desert again!!

So we start trekking back with 3 screaming kids in tow!! Not one of our finest parenting moments! We finally get back and find a shower and wash off the salt and the kids calm down.

We load everyone up and head for home!! The kids all fall asleep and Ryan and I are talking about our epic fail adventure and he says " Do ya wonder why neither of us have been there before... It's because it sucks!!!" We laughed about all the way home!!

Making Memories that is for sure!

School Days!

We have officially entered another school year! This year has been bittersweet for me! I have had a fun summer ( not saying there weren't days when I wanted to pull my hair out, and run away) but for the most part it was fun. And there was NO homework! But I also like the routine school brings and the kids were getting really bored.  So off to school it was...

Dang!! I have some cute kiddos!!

Karden is a big 4th grader this year!! Holy crap, I am old!!

He has Mr. Bradford for his teacher and is excited about that!  This year is going to be a year that is all about being responsible for your things and your time. I'm a little nervous, but I think Karden can do it. He is really growing up lately. Even though he still wanted me to walk him to class today but as soon as we got close to his class he acted like he had no idea who I was.

Whitley is a 1st grader!

She is soo ready for first grade and I know she will do great! Unexpectedly she was super nervous about going to school for SIX hours. and what happens if she has to go to the bathroom, etc? But so far she is loving it!! Her teacher is Mrs Phelps and seems super fun

and her classroom is cute!! It is all jungle themed!

I only cried for a little bit when I left her on the first day! ( OK so all the way to work) I felt like I was throwing this perfectly good little girl to the wolves. Not that Whitley cant hold her own but still.

I am really missing Whitley during the day. She is my cleaner and helps entertain Berkley! I didn't realize how much she really did around here until I am trying to read a book and load the dishwasher and cook lunch at the same time!

I am excited for another great year!!

Happy Birthday TWO you!!

Berkley Turned 2 on August 18th!! How is she 2, I don't want her to grow up!

We decided to have a party for her at the new springville splash pad! All the kids loved it! Before getting wet the older girls needed a picture with the birthday girl!
Then the splashing and swimming began!

Wow! Now that is a bunch of posers! :)

The boys learned quickly not to splash the biggest kids on the playground,..... They get even!

Next Food! When it was time for lunch we had to drag the kiddos out of the water to eat!

Berkley loved her cake!!
And who wouldn't... look at the cute cake Aunt Becky made!

After eating it was Present time!!! Berkley made a haul! I guess that means lots of people love her!!

Does it fit mom?

We may of had a a slight.. who am I kidding! An all out 2 year old fit when we took away her mega blocks and made her keep opening presents! I'm going to be in trouble this year!

Who invited art?.... or spider man?

We love our Berkley!! She has been soo fun to have in our family ( most of the time) She likes to talk a lot and most everyone can understand what she is saying! She is curious and busy and has earned the nickname "Gremlin" for sure. But we wouldn't change her for anything! Thanks for completing our family Berkley!! We love you to pieces!!

Just Keep Swimmin'

Swimming lessons this year was fun! I think that Karden and Whitley made huge strides in being confident in the water..... What am I talking about, They think there invisible, I feel more confident in them being in the water after this years lessons! They both learned a ton!!

Karden only had 3 kids in his class this year! They all became good little buddies!

Kendyll, Karden, and Kayden

They were the class of all "K's"  This was his teacher Kaylynn

Whitley was with a bunch of kids but she loved every minute of class! Whitley is great at adapting to whatever she is thrown into!

Whitley Loved her teacher, Julie!

The last day they got to go down the slide and jump off the Diving board. I was impressed that karden jumped off and swam to the side by himself over and over again.

Ready!

and jump!!!

Whitley had a little help, Her teacher caught there class in the water and helped them to the sides!

Of course once again, Berkley found a way to get out of swimming lessons! ( last year she had hand, foot and mouth disease!)  She decided to wake up the morning of swimming lessons and not be able to walk on her left leg. After drs appts and xrays she was diagnosed with cellulites! I am very glad we have modern medicine! A big strong antibiotic and a few days later and she was feeling much better!  But no swimming lessons for her this year!

This is what Berleys leg looked like when we took her in to the dr.

6 hours later, The redness just kept growing!

The next day it looked a little better, not as red and hot and it had stopped growing! Yay for modern medicine!

It was a fun couple of weeks! But glad it's over! :)
