Another one bites the dust...

.............. okay so make that two!!

Karden lost both of his front teeth in a weeks time. The first on has been loose forever and I have threatened on many occasions that I will pull it out if he doesn't , it was just hanging there and he could move it with his tongue- Gross!
The second one I didn't even know was loose. He was at the neighbors house and his tooth came out and he didn't know what to do so he just put it in his pocket. Luckily it was still there when he remembered the tooth fairy needed to come.

He looks a little like a hillbilly, but still a very cute hillbilly.

Feeling the love!

Valentines day turned out pretty eventful this year.

First project: Operation Valentines box. We (Okay Me) decided we were making a robot. Because I may be a tad sentimental and had a robot valentines box when I was in first grade. So we got to work and it turned out pretty darn cute if you ask me. Karden decided it was TOO cute and that it needed angry eyebrows. ( boys!)

Last night I was also awakened at least every hour by a certain boy telling me he was going to throw up. So the job of bowl holder, throwup cleaner upper and putting back to bed took up my whole night. ( oh yeah the 6 year old was also up all night with the stomach bug) :)

So all day today this is what the two boys did!
What a life if you ask me. Because we all know the manflu is SOOO much worse that when mom is sick.

Karden was so upset when he realized this morning he could not go to school! With big alligator tears he told my how excited he was to go to his valentines party! It broke my heart. So I packed up his box and his valentines for his classmates and took them to school for him. We picked them up after school and he was ecstatic about all the valentines he got!! It was worth it!!

Whitley and I cleaned the house, goofed off,
and went and picked up our Valentines dinner. The boys got soup!! If you are too sick to get out of bed you are definatly too sick to eat pizza. Ha ha!!

The girls also feasted on yummy treats that the neighbors brought!!

I did get these.. Which made the day alot better.

And a valentines card from my cute Dad!!

We decided to give the kids there valentines present and they have been loving dancing to "Just Dance Kids!" I think someone has even forgotten that he is sick!

It really was a low key day but it turned out good. What more can you ask for.

Theres No day....

... Like a Snow Day!!

Today we woke up to 2 feet of snow!! Seriously two feet of snow!!!
We also found out that school was cancelled!!
Karden was a little upset because today was supposed to be the last day of school before Christmas Vacation, and all the fun parties were today. So we had a party of our own...Shoveling the snow!!

After that was done, we got bundled up and headed outside to enjoy the weather. Karden and Whitley had a blast making snow angels,
trying to be moutain climbers by getting all the way to the top of the snow banks.
Whitley also made a princess castle out of a plastic bucket
and karden made a fort for his guys surrounded by a moat of "hot lava" (boys!!)
We of course had to warm up with hot chocolate. The kids went outside again after dinner tonight and after taking 30 minutes to get them dressed they played for a whopping 13 minutes before deciding they were FREEZING. Its no fun for mom to take longer getting kids dressed and undressed then the actually play time. But what do ya do!!

We also decided to make out annual gingerbread house tonight. Let me give you one hint..........FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS!!

Ryan and I start to assemble the house and it says after assembling house wait 3 hours before decorating... Who has that kind of time....Especially with a 6 and a 4 year old. So we decide to just use twice the amount of frosting and wait about 3 minutes. ( it had a 3 in it, what could possible go wrong) Well all is fine and the house is looking pretty good, given we are not going to be winning a food network challenge, but hey it is standing up!!

2 minutes later.............

Should of followed direction!! We learned out lesson.

But all in all it was a good day!! Now what am I going to do for the next 2 weeks while the kids are out of school!! I may need a pepsi- a BIG pepsi!!

My Peg Legged Pete.

Ryan finally did it!! He was very brave and had his subtalor joint fused. (that means ankle in normal person talk) We went into the hospital on November 19th for the surgery- (Yeah for all of you wondering that was the day after Ryan's dads funeral- yeah pretty much a BAD week)

Anyone that knows Ryan is aware that he HATES anything to do with Dr's, hospitals, Needles, etc.
So we get to the hospital and Ryan is slightly freaking out. His blood pressure was 179/129. (Normal is 120/80) He may have been a bit stressed! :) The nurse says she needs to take blood. Ryan is NOT happy and to top it off the doctor is not going to be there for 2 hours and we are the 2nd case of the day so we are looking at 4 hours until he goes back for surgery. Ryan found this out and was ready to bail!! Luckily the anesthesiologist is my moms friend and gave him some sedation... 25 minutes later.... Happy Ryan (which also means Happy Megan :)

We finally get him into surgery... 3 hours, 4 screws, 1 plate, cadaver bone graft, ligament repain, straightened heel and toes, and Achilles tendon loosening.
Ryan was out of surgery!! Yeah!!

We got him up to his room. The nurses up there were saying that Ryans Cast was one of the biggest they had seen. It is huge!!
It Must of been Ryans lucky day because his room overlooked the LIFE FLIGHT PAD!!!
Could this get any better to a lover of all emergency vehicles.... and guess what" Life Flight Landed!!!

The next morning I went to pick him up and he was hurting and not doing to well on the crutches. We debated staying another night but Ryan wanted out of the hospital and they sent him home with a walker and Crutches and a "good luck"

Ryan was completely down for 5 days and just recently has felt good enough to roam around the house and he is getting a bad case of cabin fever! Today he was almost begging me to let him go with me to pick up Whitley from preschool.

We also got a cool little scooter rental today
and now he is getting around alot easier and faster.
He is non weight bearing on his foot for 12 weeks. So in February he will be able to walk!! February can't come soon enought fo my peg legged Pete :)

In Loving Memory..

This is a post I never thought I would have to write.... When you are 33 your Dad (and my father in law) is not supposed to die..... You should not have to tell your kids that their grandpa passed away when they are 6 and 4... My heart hurts for Ry and the rest of the family.

On November 15. Ryans Dad passed away from kidney cancer. He was only 59. In april he was not feeling well, in July we found out it was cancer and had metastisized to his bones... We knew the outcome was grim and for 4 months we were able to spend lots and lots of time with him. We will forever cherish that time just sitting in his bedroom that had been decorated by picturest that the grandkids had drawn.

Ryan spoke about his dad at the graveside services- He did amazing and said he hopes that is the hardest thing he will ever have to do. (I hope so too) This is his talk that really shows who Craig was.

"Good Morning-
On behalf of our family we would like to thank you all for the love and support and for being here today to pay final respects to my dad. My dad didn't want a big event and so I hopefully will keep this short and sweet.
Craig Timothy Devenish passed away peacefully on November 15, 2010 at his home. He was born on February 25, 1951 in Spanish Fork, Utah, to Br. (Tonny) and Verl Olsen Devenish. He married Barbara Schroder on June 25, 1976; their marriage was later solemnized in the Provo LDS Temple.Craig was raised in Springville and graduated from Springville High School in 1969. He was a journeyman welder and an avid "tinkerer" of electronics. He loved to fix all the grandkids noisy toys (much to their parents dismay). Craig loved spending time with his family on vacations, picnics, camping, and shooting. He is survived by his loving wife Barbara, his children: Ryan (Megan), Jon (Sharlyn), Paul, and Becky. His beloved grandchildren: Karden, Whitley, Alex, Cadie, and Josh (Squishy). The family wishes to thank Intermountain Home Care Hospice for their love and care. Special thanks to Margret, Dave, Marsha, and Rebecca. A special thank you to Irene with serenicare for helping us get through this trying time.My dad was a kid at heart, he was fascinated by model trains, hot wheels cars and anything he could take apart and put back together. I remember waking up on Christmas morning to find all of our Lego sets and other toys fully assembled because he couldn't stand the thought of them in the box. He HAD to play with them first. Dad loved to fly kites and always had to have the biggest fanciest model available only to be frustrated an hour later because he couldn't get it off the ground. He would swear that next year he was going to use the plain triangle ones, only to show up with the new and improved model that he still could not get to fly. Dad was always game for shopping. He would go anytime and to look at anything. Unless it involved going to Target. Dad also loved our weekend getaways to logan, and St. George. It was amazing how much fun we could have in 2 days. We also got the opportunity to go to San Diego and Disneyland in the last few years and the memories we have of those trips are priceless. Dad was a fitter and a welder and I have many fond memories of him coming home from work hot and sweaty sitting at the kitchen table and taking off his boots. He would sit there for a while to unwind and to talk to mom and us kids about our days. He was a hard worker and taught the value of work.Dad was good at lots of things but fixing cars and lawnmowers was not his strong point. If there was a contest dad would have been the gold medal winner of the lawnmower throwing contest in the yard work Olympics. The next week he would be out cussing us boys because the wheel was bent and we needed to stop hitting the fence with the lawnmower- Not that the across the yard catapult could have anything to do with the bent axle.Dad may have been big and looked gruff and some might even say he "could yell at you with his eyes" but in real life when he loved you, he loved you with all of his might. He really really loved my mom and showed us how to treat a lady, I know he loved me, Jon, Paul and Becky, He treated Megan and Sharlyn like his own daughters but when the grandkids came along. That was a whole different story. We all had to move down the bench!! He was the baby whisperer and could put the crankiest baby to sleep. When the grandkids were down it was common to have a kid in both arms just rocking with grandpa in the recliner and watching QVC. He was proud of their every accomplishments and in his eyes they could do nothing wrong. Dad could fix any broken toy they brought down and loved to see their faces when the broken toy was restored to the beeping , rattling noise machine that us parents had worked hard to make silent! There was many Christmas trees that feared my dad and garbage cans that always got there revenge, there was movies that "could of been better" but in all seriousness we will never forget or stop missing the man we call Husband, Dad, Grandpa and Friend. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen."

We took the kids to the cemetary later that night and let them write a note that we attached a balloon and sent to Grandpa Craig in Heaven.
It was very tender.

Craig will be missed but never forgotten!!
